Latresha Byrd
I have enjoyed reading and writing since childhood. I used to draw pictures and write stories for them and called them "books." I was well known by the librarians at every school I attended. In 1998, I won the Lt. Governor's Award for Expository Writing. I graduated from Greenville Technical College with an Associate in Arts degree and I am also a graduate from the Institute of Children's Literature.
I am currently a contributing writer for Yahoo Contributor's Network and my work has also been published on Blogcritics. I also write a book review blog called My So Called Writing Life. I was once told by a teacher that I didn't have what it takes to be a writer. I am greatful for this opportunity to prove to myself and others that "yes, I do have what it takes to be a writer." This statement stuck with me for a long time, but now I have the chance to finally silence that voice.
